Joanne Hock











Joanne Hock: Creative Manager/Director/Cinematographer

Joanne has directed national and international television campaigns, written and directed screenplays, commercials and documentaries and lensed thousands of television commercials. She has spearheaded film projects for Fortune 500 companies such as BMW and Bank of America. Her work was recognized by the New York International Film Festival with the Gold Medal Award for direction as well as the prestigious Grand Prize Award for 2005. Joanne was a featured director/DP in the international acclaimed film, To See The Light, for Kodak Motion Picture Films


In the summer of 2010, Joanne began directing her most recent script, Redneck Roots, a romantic comedy set below the Mason-Dixon line.



Robin Grey

Robin is a New York entertainment attorney with over 25 years of experience in the entertainment industry. She has been overseeing Emulsion Arts' expansion over the past two years while she serves as executive producer on their long form projects. Prior to, and while attending law school at night, Robin worked in production on feature films and television series for 12 years starting as a PA and working many years as a production accountant as well as a producer.


Robin received her J. D. in New York in 1989 from New York Law School and has since been practicing entertainment law in New York and managing a myriad of entertainment enterprises. Her NY business management experience includes VP Business and Legal Affairs and Production Supervisor at Scholastic Entertainment during the years they produced both HBO and Fox series, The Babysitter’s Club and The Magic School Bus, as well as the feature film, The Indian In The Cupboard and other acclaimed properties. She has also been the Managing Director/COO of R/GA Media Group, Interpublic’s leading interactive agency and an Adjunct Professor at NYU, Tisch School of the Arts in their graduate Interactive Telecommunications Program. Robin is the production lawyer for the Discovery ID series, The Shift, as well as a Guardian Ad Litem for the North Carolina court system. Robin joined Emulsion Arts in April 2008 as CEO and was recently named a 2009 Charlotte Business Journal, Women In Business Achievement Award winner.



Heidi Dove











Heidi Dove: Creative Producer

Heidi has worked as a writer, producer, creative director and a network producer in broadcast production for over 20 years. She has created and produced programming for PBS, SyFy, INSP, HGTV, and DIY. Heidi has worked with numerous personalities such as Don Knotts, Jennifer O'Neill, John Schnieder, Lee Greenwood, Louise Mandrell and the legendary Milton Berle. Along with her broadcast experience, Heidi has produced and directed numerous documentaries and videos for Fortune 500 companies including Bank of America, Duke Energy and Wachovia Bank and Trust.


Heidi can be heard narrating many of Emulsion's films and her voice-over talent is prominent in our region. Her creativity has become well known for the museum film installations she has produced and she will serve as an executive producer on Emulsion's upcoming romantic comedy, Redneck Roots.



John Disher











John Disher: Editor/Videographer/Producer/Director

John has served in almost every role in film and video production. His intimate knowledge of every aspect of production makes him an accomplished editor and storyteller. John consistently provides superior technical skill in production and post-production services. John is also a multiple Emmy Award nominee for his directing and editing work on Laugh At Us, an original Emulsion Arts documentary that is currently airing nationally on PBS. Most recently, John has served as producer and editor on another Emulsion documentary Martin's Hill, which is currently in post-production.



Kay Thompson











Kay Thompson: Producer, Line Producer

Kay is an award-winning producer who has made a living in the film industry for over 30 years. As a producer, her credits are impressive and her on-set experience ranges from working with internationally acclaimed directors for BBC docudramas to children's television programming and national television ad campaigns. Kay has been producing in Charlotte for the Emulsion Arts partners for over 15 years.



Amanda Van Der Meulen

Emulsion Arts' newest member is Amanda Van Der Meulen. She's smart, funny and a hard worker. Amanda came to Emulsion Arts as an intern and we liked her so much that we created a position for her. She is learning everything about the business. She knows production gear and has become adept at setting lights, building a jib arm, grip work, script continuity, make-up and production coordinating. When she's in the office she is a master DVD creator and now an editor as well. Amanda has quickly developed her public service storytelling skills and has been lead editor on several projects for nonprofit organizations including The Light Factory, Catawba Lands Conservancy, Thompson's Child and Family Focus and Freedom Schools.


Amanda is a 2008 UNCC graduate with a theatre and film degree. She also has a degree from the Carolina School of Broadcasting.



Phyllis Van Cleave










Phyllis Van Cleave: Accounting Manager

As accounting manager, Phyllis is responsible for the exacting task of tracking Emulsion Arts' expanding business ventures. She has been with Emulsion Arts since it's founding in 2002, having worked previously with Joanne at Silver Hammer Studios.


Beginning with a Master's Degree in Theatrical Production and Costuming, Phyllis has worked for over 20 years in the production industry, including nearly 10 years as a production accountant. In addition to her freelance production career in wardrobe and costuming, she was a talent agent in New York City and has worked with a wide variety of different theatrical companies around the country, such as The Boston Ballet and Pennsylvania Stage Company in Allentown.
